Vesacone | Facade System

.2017
Inspiration; a wind channeling facade
The Eco-Cooler, invented by Ashis Paul in Bangladesh, consists of a zero electricity system of used plastic bottles and cardboard to lower internal temperatures in rural areas.

Design; 2 module variations
Hollow cones function as a wind channeling funnel with a narrower opening to increase the speed of the wind funneling through the facade.
Concave solid cones serve as water drainage to direct rain run-off and to prevent rain from entering the facade.
The staggering arrangement of the modules allow for ventilation and daylighting to enter the interior spaces.

Materiality; a water absorbent facade
The Muscatese evaporative cooling system combines a ceramic vessel filled with water and a wooden screen. Learning from that, the design explores the possibility of 3D printing with ceramic to employ a cool brick masonry system that can passively lower internal temperatures in arid environments.
